Apple has a two tier approach to iPhone software development. An iPhone was never intended for playing games that was developed for the fifth generation iPod. There is no GPS included in the iPhone. However it can be added by means of an accessory. The maps can consume one or more GB storage. Though Apple never speaks about their unannounced products, the editors of iLounge suspect that the widescreen and touch screen of an iPhone technology might appear along a hard drive in an upcoming update to the full sized iPod and with a possibility of limited wireless functionality too. After the iPhone, this kind of iPod will be released very soon.

Future possible changes in iPhone feature:

Apple and AT&T states that iPhone follow-ups will soon be launched, but the dates and specifics are only speculative.

Ring tones: Apple has no comments on iPhone working as a wireless modem for computers in the future. Moreover, the ring tones cannot be taken from the user’s iTunes music library.

Advanced changes: Some iPhones are expected to be compatible with advanced 3G data networks, widespread networks or customized for popular cellular networks abroad.

Voice command: Some iPhones are expected to be cut down with less expensive versions of the iPhone made for less demanding users. The voice command of iPhone is commonly used on cell phones to let the user dial or access menu options with his voice only. This feature is not currently included in the iPhone. The dialing and menu navigation are handled by the touch screen facility.

Updates: Apple has announced that it will soon launch features and application updates to the iPhone in the near future. For the same the company has to adopt subscription style revenue as per the system for the device. These new additions to the capability of iPhone are designed to surprise and delight the iPhone users.

Many users are looking forward for the possibly of a smaller iPhone model in the future. The new version of iPhone includes access to a faster Internet network and an improved battery. The iPhone is a combination of iPod, cell phone and portable Internet device. AT &T has said that it would bring faster service to the iPhone in 2008. Further, Apple too said that it would open the iPhone to outside software developers around the month of February, 2008 which would turn the iPhone to a more versatile device than a mere cell gadget. Apple had launched iPhone on June 29, 2007. By September 10, it has sold over a million of iPhones in the market and it has been one of the best gadgets for any consumer electronics product ever. The Apple’s market share in cell phones exceeds that of smart phones.

The future iPhone from Apple will be able to make VOIP calls, get faster then Wi-Fi internet access and will boast of weeks of battery life. Overall, it will not be tied to a pokey edge network. It has been rumored that apple will base future iPhone versions on Intel’s upcoming Moorestown processors. This processor enables low power usage, high performance of systems on a chip that is aimed at smart phones and mobile handsets. However Intel’s Moorestown processor is also an integrated WiMax platform. The platform will feature a CPU, fast 3-D graphics, Wi-Fi and WiMax on a single chip and HD video decoding too.  The iPhone is a perfect device for Moorestown and is really a mobile internet device with a phone tacked on for good measure. Apple’s adoption of Moorestown process for iPhone could provide a big boost in the consumer market. Apple will have an estimate of over 22 million of iPhone users by 2009.

What I would look forward to from the iPhone is maybe a drastic price drop. I would have had one of these months ago but they are just too darn expensive for a phone. I realize that the iPhone has more functions and gadgets than just about any other phone on the market right now, and I agree it is probably the best phone (gadget wise) ever, but it is still way too pricey.

My question is, though, why in the world - unless one were a high-powered executive or world leader - would anyone want something as complicated as an iPhone in the first place? Sure, I’m a bit of a techie-lover myself and believe in maximizing productivity, but why, oh why do we need to be permanently connected to everything almost 24/7?

I have to agree about the price drop. I like the concept of the so called “smart phone”, but the price is scaring me away currently. Of course the fact that Apple dropped the price a couple hundred bucks is nice, but like a lot of the people that rushed out and bought the iPhone the second they came out, were extremely angry. Justifiably so. I think Apple should have rebated them the money or at least made the offer.

Over time the iPhone will get better and the price will come down, as with all technology.

Apple did an excellent job of promoting and hyping the iPhone. The media helped a great deal getting the excitement up for the launch.

Now, I don’t really hear too much about the iPhone. It’s a good phone and has some good features, but the WOW factor has died down considerably.

I will be looking forward to the next generation of iPhone and see what the competition has to offer as a next generation mobile phone.

Well I think all companies will always create new products that are capable of adapting to the new environment or new trends. I won’t be surprised if the new iPhone will also have a 3G support and other new technology support, that’s the only way for a product to survive, continues improvement.

I guess that they wouldn’t share any information because they are scared that their rival will copy and might do a better product than theirs. This is part of the marketing move of Apple. I think that by announcing it to the public and not giving specific details will definitely have the people’s eye. I have seen this tactic before and it works wonders to the product that is being promoted.

I think that the future of the Iphone would be best met if they would stick with a modular approach for additional features whenever possible instead of trying to make everything default. Think Firefox vs IE. IE always tries to put everything “in the box”, and Firefox lives off of extensions. This helps with issues of flexibility and in many ways security. If you find a problem with a feature that was a module, you can disable it or remove it. Integrated features usually affect other programs and sometimes even an OS attachment, and the whole device can be affected. Plus, I really do think, that unlike yet another browser extension for the viewing of an online file, people like to download new features for their Iphone.

I think it is quite obvious that there will be a lot more changes to the Apple iphone. This is mainly because it was the first product of its kind that Apple has released. After seeing everyone’s reactions, they will definitely make changes and try to improve it. There are so many things you can do to it and it only will increase with improving technology.
