It seems recently the guys over at Crave have come across something quite interesting while at a friendly dinner with some representatives from Asus. Reported they were told in a “very hush manner” that “Asus is helping Apple build a Tablet PC.”Of course we can all count the endless rumors involving anything to do with Apple, though this seems to be more true then just a fairytale, due to the fact that Asus is Apple’s contract manufacturer. Asus is a big player behind the building of the iBook, PowerBook, as well as the MacBook. After these rumors started to spread, a little more investigation had to take place. With that said, Asus confirmed that the Apple Tablet will not be based on existing Asus designs such as the R1. It’s said that that it will come from a completely new blueprint, possibly based on the patent Apple filed back in May of 2005. Though we can only assume with a 3 year difference from the patent to now, that Apple has more or less reconstructed that proposal to the fullest.”We’re guessing it’ll be based on Intel Core architecture, a tweaked version of Leopard, and have all the multi touch, CoverFlow goodness we’ve seen in the iPhone and iPod touch.” -CraveUnfortunately there hasn’t been a release date mentioned or any proposals leaked, though we can only imagine what Apple has planned for the future of tablet PCs. We’ve seen what they’ve done with revolutionizing cellular phones, touch screen media players, and now the forefront for tablet PC’s is on the horizon.

I definitely looking forward to an Apple Tablet, if these rumors are true. There’s just so much possibility to come out of having the technologic advances of Apple and the sleek design that it’ll no doubt come in. If it has all that an iTouch offers and more, I’d think that this’ll be the next great Apple product to come out- or at least we can hope!

Hopefully this one won’t go the way of the Apple Newton. I remember the initial enthusiasm that was generated when Steve Jobs announced the coming of the Newton, and it never quite took off.

Maybe now that the iPhone and iPod are hot items, the Apple Tablet will be equally successful.

I would really like to see this happen for Apple. I think that they have a fantastic operating system and moving into new area’s exposes more people to the stability of Apply systems. I think that more programmers are jumping on board and with this statement if it really happens it can help them to start taking their rightful market.

I’m just wondering why they are shifting from their old processor preference to Intel processors. I think they used to use Motorola processors that gave their computers a good performance. Maybe Intel processors can now offer a better performance for the apple tablet.

If the rumors are true we then may find another a powerful computer that we can used on our daily life, both offline and online. I think that ASUS will get something in return for this help. It’s more like symbiotic relationships were each one will benefit from one another.

I am not sure whether tablet PCs will ever take off. I think that Apple has really cornered the market with handheld Internet devices with its IPhone, and should know it. The tablet PC has not taken off due to consumer demand, not a lack of tablets. While the Apple name might make some of the would be buyers out of the closet, I don’t think that it would be a real hit like the Ipod or IPhone. The product would probably be superior, but the damand lacking.

I think this will be a coveted item, and it seems, with some minor glitches at the very beginning, that it will run away with this burgeoning market. Apple seems to make everything they touch, turn into gold.

I really hope when this is released that they ensure that no other piece of hardware out there can emulate this. It also will need a marketing push like we have not seen, meaning something above and beyond what they did for the Iphone. If they put into the heads of a potential consumer that this is the product to have, its basically a done deal.

I think this will happen sooner or later. It is one of those things that our technology is headed towards. So even if Apple does not realease this product now, they should at least be doing research on tablets and how to improve them. People will start using them more and more because they are more useful.
