appletv2.jpgWell I’m sure everyone has heard by now, but the release of the Apple TV Take 2 has been announced at MacWorld. The Apple TV “Take 1″ we’ll go ahead and call it, was by no means a success. In reality the Apple TV was one of Apples least successful releases in 2007. Even Steve Jobs admitted in his keynote address that the Apple TV “has failed to meet expectations and truly link online content with the television.” So what does Take 2 offer that Take 1 didn’t?Well from the outside you won’t notice much of a change, however, the UI has been totally revamped. With the new single menu interface it allows you to search quickly for whatever your heart may desire. Take 2’s biggest “wow factor” is by far its feature that allows you to buy music, movies, tv shows, even iTune rentals directly from your television, no computer hook up required. Take 2 will also be able to playback HD movies and will support Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The coolest thing by far, and I’m sure everyone will agree with me is the direly needed price cut to the Apple TV as a whole.Theres currently 2 available models out right now, theres the 40GB model that is now only $229 USD, originally priced at $299 and the 160GB model which is only $329. As movie rentals go though, HD movies are gonna run about $4.99, compared to the SD movies which are a dollar less, $3.99. Also theres around 600+ TV shows that are available for $1.99. Apple TV Take 2 will now support Flickr slideshows you can having running at any time, as well as .Mac accounts.Current Apple TV owners will be able to download the software for free in the weeks to come.

I have a feeling the Take 2 is going to have much more success. Not only is the price drop appealing, but I really love the fact that you can purchase right from your television. I wonder how long the free downloads will last though? Again, that’s another smart move.

You know there are many good reasons for something such as this. But I do not generally order from shows through TV, and cannot imagine that I would want to do this with Take 2. I think that it is no different than really picking up the phone and ordering, but mayve a bit easier.

Personally I think that some of the technology which is coming is if the reason why people are so lazy, and getting fatter by the year. Soon there will be no reason to leave home.

It certainly has a impressive list of features. I think it will see more success than the Apple TV Take 1. Its really cool and convenient to order movies, music etc directly from the TV. I think this is a good step in making the TV more interactive. The price is pretty reasonable and I might just buy it. It has a lot of scope for modifications which pleases me.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. I can say that the second one will be better than the first one because they have work out the problems in the first release of the Apple TV. This is always the case whether you are talking about software or hardware. It’s always better to wait for the second release prior to buying the latest. In this case, first impression doesn’t last forever. Apple has done it again, by improving the second better than the predecessor.

I don’t know if Apple TV is something I would be interested in right now. It is going to get some interest from those that like to get the newest gadgets and technology. The price is pretty good and not too far out of reach for most people. When you hear the name Apple, you don’t think of Apple TV right away. You think iMac, iPod, iPhone.

I think that I would have bought an Apple TV if I have the money. I think that it would make my watching experience a very enjoyable one because of the features that a regular TV doesn’t have. I would have to earn and tighten my belt just to buy one because of the high price that they are selling it. This is the only downfall that I can see on this TV.

That’s a very nice TV to have, they are now simplifying things and I like it. Maybe they would also add a video game for it for the next version of the Apple TV. I would definitely love to have this TV, I hope the TV supports all countries.

They probably should agressively market this on their Itunes network. I never really saw a mention of it. Sometimes Steve on stage and more branding commercials on TV just don’t go far enough in reaching out to your core market and getting said what you need to. I think it might actually be a part of the Apple culture that I never have been able to grasp. Everything about Apple is cool, until it tries to play it cool. Then they come out with a flop. It is never about the product. It is always about promotional arrogance.

It makes me wonder if anybody ever went out and bought something from that one company, you know, you see the ads on all the time. You can’t quite tell what they are trying to sell, except maybe the girl. It might be for jeans, it might be for perfume, oh, no, now theres a clown.**poof** next commercial. The company thought you loved it so much, you would love its next commercial and buy more. That is if you read the fine print to see who it was and then contacted them to see what it was that they sold, because the commercial didn’t promote a damn thing, but it sure was cool, because they wanted to be cool.

I think this is another excellent strategy for Apple to try to conquer their brand. You are starting to see their brand in so many aspects of the electronic industry. Steve Jobs is extremely clever and an excellent marketer. I think they will continue to flourish due to the great minds behind the business.
