images-1.jpegThe oh so never ending controversial battle continues. The infamous battle that is between Mac users and PC users, which is better? Well with a recent study done, it proves that Mac users are actually to be found more liberal and open minded than that of “average people.”The study was based on the responses of 7,500 participants. Mindset Media classify mac users into a category called “Openness 5.” Basically means they are more liberal, less modest and more assured of their own superiority than the people around them. Mindset Media is best known for their strong marketing ability in which they help companies with strong brands develop ads targeted torwards people based on their “mindsets.”So-called Openness 5 types tend to seek rich, varied and novel experiences, according to the company, and believe that imagination and intellectual curiosity are as important to life as more rational or pragmatic endeavors. They also are receptive to their own inner feelings and may experience life with more emotional intensity.” -PC WorldIn my honest opinion, I see the “Mac movement” more or less as a “trendy cult.” It’s as if every Mac user has some natural connection to one another. Mac’s have always been the popular choice for the “artsy” type, which make perfect sense seeing how they are beasts in the world of design/photography/editing/etc. But then you also have the “wanna be’s”, the people who get them that have no understanding of computers and just basically want to fit in, or be apart of that “trendy cult,” and I think a large portion of Apples recent step forward in the past couple years was due to those “wanna be’s.” Cause when you say “Oh I’m a PC user,” PC is made up of so many companies, but when you say “Oh I’m a Mac user,” you’re apart of just 1 company, of 1 specific group, so its as if you’re separating yourself from that whole PC population. In the end though, the war involving the Mac users vs the PC users doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon, though with Bill Gates resent retirement announcement it’s going to be interesting to see what Microsoft and Steve Jobs both have planned for the future.

This is the silliest thing I have heard in a while. You mean there are actually “Mac Wannabes”? I just think it’s absurd for people to think they are trendy and cool by the company of their pc. Why not choose Mac because of it the oh so much better security? Or why not choose Windows because it is more compatible and has more plug ins ? Geesh, I’ve heard it all.

Yes, that’s like judging someone by the TV they own. According to the logic of this “you’re cool if you have a Mac, and a dolt if you have a PC” philosophy, then people who own an LCD or plasma TV are cool, and dolts if they don’t plan on shedding their analogs.

I own a PC not because I’m conservative or dull-witted; people who know me know that I’m very liberal about many things (sex, intellectual freedom, the Iraq war) and I am not, at least last time I checked, dull-witted or boring. I’d love to own a Mac, but the price range is a bit too steep and PCs are easier to buy and update.

You know that people might think is silly, but if you have ever used a Mac you know how much further advanced and sound the system really is. You do not have the unstable environment that PC users with Windows have. You have that with Unix and Linux systems, now if they could get more developed for those we can once and for all get rid of windows.

Mac most certainly does offer the best security and I agree is much more stable. The problem I think is that most people do not realize this, or they just think it’s a rumor or an advertising ploy. It is definitely true though, and Window has much to learn when it comes to security.

Its not just that windows has alot to learn, its the fact that people dont know how or are too lazy to code viruses and scripts for macs.

I think the problem isn’t that people don’t believe Macs are better. I think lots of computer-savvy people know they are. It’s just that IBM outsmarted Apple by licensing its hardware and designs to other outfits, and because cheaper clones were easier to buy, and they ran on MS-DOS, Microsoft and PCs predominated.

People think Macs have better security because they fail to understand that the majority of the people use Windows. What would virus authors get for making a virus to target Macs? Nothing. No system in the world can be completely secure as long as people with evil intentions exist.
I dont use Macs not because I am ‘not cool’ but purely for the reason that Windows offers a lot more than a Mac does in terms of 3rd Party software, Games etc. Its about whats more useful to me not about what makes people think I am ‘cool’ or ‘trendy’.

You are right. But if more coders designed for Mac I am sure you would see and increase in Mac users plain and simple. I think that anyone that argues that point is not exeperienced enough to know the difference in what makes an operating stable. If Windows could run solely by iteself and not with the help of dos how would it run?

I agree with devil1976 on this one. I, too, have been forced to settle for PCs rather than a Mac (or Macs) because I see that Windows-based games and apps far outnumber those for Mac’s operating system. I’m not an economist or computer expert, but I doubt that many game/app publishers can afford to hire designers, coders, and programmers that would enable them to write for both Windows and Mac OS.

I am a pc user by choice not because I believe that it is better than Mac but rather on it is more inexpensive then the Mac computer. Personally I think that Mac computer is more reliable when it comes in using it for business purpose. Although I haven’t used it, I have heard a lot on how easy it is for Mac user to their business.

I’m not choosing any sides here but I think that if you want to use it for your own purpose then you should buy a personal because as I already said it is much cheaper than a Mac computer.

I’ve heard a lot of people saying the Mac is more powerful than the PC, and I agree. Movie editors of the Mac are more powerful than that of the PC. The only problem right here in our place is the availability of the Mac computers.

I have always been a PC guy and I haven’t had the need to switch to a Mac. Although, I am thinking why not have the best of both worlds. I hear a lot of good things about the Mac.

The PC will probably continue to dominate the market for a long time as it is cheaper than the Mac. The price of the Mac could come down if more people buy it though. That is one of the reasons the PC is so cheap. They sell so many. That is why Wal-Mart has such cheap prices, they sell large quantities of their products.

I think that even though that a Pc is cheaper than the MAC, it would always prevail as the more dominant computer when it comes in the world of business. I never used MAC before but during my college days my professors always says that MAC computer is more reliable than a PC when it comes to keeping its data intact. I don’t really know if this is true, but this is what I believe in.

Even though, MAC is more reliable computer. I think that I will stay with my PC because I have lost of games on my PC. Switching to a MAC is not for me because I’m not a serious entrepreneur. Although, I work on the internet, I still play on my computer. Another reason is that I’m not used to using software of MAC. It would be difficult for me since I have used PC software ever since I had started learning computers.

I think the battle will never end. Even if they make software’s that is compatible for both computers there will always be critics for which performs best. Maybe it’s better to have both, and then use the computer that you think can perform better in certain tasks.

I wonder what they would have said about the Linux users out there. They will do anything to convince you to load up the newest GPLware. I use Linux almost on a daily basis, and I would consider myself an avid fan of both them and Apple, but I do not think, after knowing so many users of both, that there is any real difference between them and PC users, other than they seem to put a little more thought into their computing solutions.

I agree with some here. It will be a war that will never end, but because of that, we will see some great products come out of it, in the near future hopefully. The only thing I can see where the product wars end, is of course, someone invents a workable quantuum computer

Yeah I do agree with you guys, this war will never end when it comes to macs and pcs. I really can’t believe though that there are mac-wannabes. I mean com’on are you really serious? Some of the stuff that people study is so absurb that it just can’t be real. But whatever. I love my mac because of the better security and it’s so much better to use and more convient.

I don’t think the battle will ever end. It is true that Apple is getting quite a following and there are a lot of people who are switching to their products. But a lot of people are just used to windows and microsoft products and most of the applications are catered to their operating systems. It will be a while before any one of them prevails significantly.
