An announcement by Apple came today in the light of more than a hundred thousand iPhone developers having already downloaded their beta SDK in anticipation of innovation since it was readily launched on March 6 this year. The best and most noticed part about the SDK is that it facilitates the downloaders with a wide variety of priced tools including a set of APIs and tools that is even used by Apple itself to create its own applications. “Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible with more than 100,000 downloads in the first four days. Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone”Philip Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing of Apple had to say. The best part of the deal is that by throwing the App Store open to developers, Apple has facilitated developers to upload their applications, set the price for the applications (which could also be free, if the developer tilts towards the altruistic) and distribute it to the whole wide range of iPhone and iPod Touch users thereby benefiting from seventy percent of all revenue generated from the sales of their applications.
What with biggies like AOL,Epocrates pitching in and developing applications, the phenomenal response this release has generated is no mean feat.
The iPhone SDK is currently a free download. The iPhone developer Program though currrently limited to the US is soon to spread over and become available in the rest of the world.
