imacFor years now many employees have used Macs at homes and now prefer them in their work places as well. The funniest part? Apple treats this reverence with utter indifference. While many companies would clamber and claw tooth and nail to get the corporate sector interested in their products and shove it to them in droves and in the age when the tiniest show of interest in computer marketing is enough for the salesmen to bombard you with their pitches, smelling a huge deal of profits there.

Once a novelty and the epitome of geek-dom everywhere, the Mac is increasingly becoming the first choice of many. It is something of a revolution by itself wherein more and more people are increasingly becoming aware and opting for the Mac. Increasing demand for the Macs has led Apple to confidently predict rise of revenues by 33% in the second quarter even as the economic slowdown is literally slowing down other companies. Workers are increasingly pressurizing their employees to acquire Macs in the office. In a survey of 250 diverse companies that has yet to be released, the market research firm Yankee Group found that 87% now have at least some Apple computers in their offices, up from 48% two years ago.

IBM and Cisco Systems are running tests on whether to let Macs into the office. Google on the other hand has always allowed the employees to pick their machine of choice for years now. Many more are yet to follow suit. As unlikely as it may sound, the proverbial shoulder is being provided to Apple in the form of its arch rival, Microsoft. Microsoft’s Vista, the latest version of Windows Operating System has been predicted of late to be one of the worst mishaps to happen in technological history. It lacks new features and requires companies to actually buy more expensive personal computers, incur hefty training costs and deal with maddening glitches that could take hours together to rectify and make the system workable again. The latest ad by Apple wherein a Yoga instructor gets irritated at how the Vista is messing up her billing system shows that Apple has been smelling retail blood and is now set on the marketing warpath with a well planned ad campaign in place of swords.

I’ve been thinking of getting my own Mac when I have reached the point that I don’t have to do a job. I have no doubt I my mind that eventually Mac will dominate the office but I think it would take some time because of the high price of Mac nowadays. When they have done this then I’m sure that more offices are going to use them.

I’m definitely ready to “immigrate” to the land of Macs myself. I’m just sick and tired of Windows telling me what to do, or what NOT to do, and our office isn’t heavily into graphics, animations and such. I think we’d be a good fit. Small businesses normally don’t need all the fancy graphics, but it’s nice to know that with the Macs, you can do it seamlessly. :D

I’m in the fashion business and we always use the Macs on creative end for designers. In the offices, we use PCs . I unfortunately do not design therefore only get a PC. BUT I we have MACs in the house so I’m quite happy at home. I LOVE my Mac!!!

I’m ready to move to a Mac, but I can’t afford one :P
I like the way the new Mac ads are capitalizing on the failures of other systems rather than trying to pressure-sell their own through “WOW! We’re SO AMAZING!” methods. The Apple ads are definitely classy.

I am totally ready to switch to the Mac. Up until this year I was a teacher and Mac’s are all that we used. Each teacher had one in their classroom and both of our computer labs had Mac computers. Now that I’m not teaching I really miss the Mac I got used to using every day.

I spoke to my girlfriend when she saw an IMac on display at a computer store when they first came out, and her reasoning for buying it was because it “looked so cute”. I suppose it does look “cute”, but I guess I was hoping for a more technical reason. :D My reason for owning a Mac — it’s not a PC. :D I know, I know, a lot of people say to get Linux and you don’t have to mess with Windows at all, but it’s hard to suddenly start working in a whole new computer environment. :(

I love the Macs and it’s because they are so cute! HAHA. For a technical reason, I had a PC for YEARS…my parents were huge on Dell…with my first laptop I had gotten it in August and by Christmas I had my laptop replaced 3 different times for the same problem. I’ve now had my apple laptop for 2 1/2 years and I haven’t had one problem with it at all! I know that macs dominate my college…especially in the communications labs.

I feel Most corporate companies are switching over to Mac for just one reason and thats the Professional Style and finesse of iMacs.

Also OSX provides a much better user interaction. I too will switch over to an iMac soon. Only reason to stay with PC is for Gaming which I’ve left long back.

Everything is much better with a Mac !

I think this is very true. With their new computers that are smaller and thus take up less space and are more user friendly they are more likely to be used. They also suffer less spam and virus attacks as hackers typically go after windows operating systems, so that’s another benefit of having them in the workplace.

I think Macs in the workplace would be an excellent prospect. I use a Macbook Pro at home and yet have to use a Windows XP machine to work on and it’s ridiculously frustrating not to have my usual little Mac features such as expose. It just slows my work down, Macs are much more usable if you ask me.

Um. Yeah, I know that Macs are currently safer from hackers and ID thieves than Windows PC users, but that’s not because Apple computers are inherently more secure. Rather, it’s the predominance of Windows PCs in the market that makes them the target of choice for online criminals; if Macs were the dominant computers, they’d be prime targets for hackers.

Most people buy macs just for their looks and so do they in offices, where feel good factor does affect the productivity of the workers.

I’ve been using macs for my business work for about 8 years now. Back then I was called a geek for using mac, now it seems like everyone is using them. I’ve had a number of PCs too. But in all honesty, mac is by far the superior of the two.

Fardreamer has a point though. If macs were more popular, then they’d have the security issues that PCs have been battling for years. Sadly though, since mac’s popularity is growing, it’s only going to be a matter of time before more criminals start targeting mac.
