IPHONE In what was an unprecedented and unexpected maneuver by Apple Inc., both the United States and United Kingdom it seems are currently facing an all and out shortage of both the 8GB and the 16GB iPhones. Customers, who have been attempting to place an order for either of the two above mentioned models, are finding the going hard when trying to acquire the pieces and are being given a standard reply on the Apple Store - “Currently Unavailable.”

The withdrawal of iPhones from Apple Stores has come red hot in the footsteps of our report a few days back, saying that UK’s O2 carrier had declared a ‘not available’ status on the 8GB and 16GB models of Apple’s iPhones. The models were quoted to be officially reaching the end of its rather long and illustrious life late last month and the stocks reportedly will not be replenished.

“However, an odd coincidence or rather an accidental finding was that the UK store of Apple Inc.’s still shows both iPhone models - the 8GB and the 16GB versions as being readily available and ready to ship.” we had reported. Not anymore it seems.

Though the Worldwide Developer’s Conference is almost a month away, and speculations are rampant on whether this is an intended shortage created by Apple to serve as a platform to introduce the new generation iPhones, analysts believe, it might possibly be just a temporary shortage crisis that Apple is facing. Knowing Apple, the answer is as good as any random guess.

Oh wow, I didn’t know that the iphone aren’t available at the stores. I wonder why that is. When does the new generation of the iphones come out? Maybe they are trying to set it up so that the new generation oh phones take over…just like how apple no longer sells the ipod minis.

I think that part of the problem is simply a case of supply-and-demand. I think that after all the media hype, all the positive press, and the like, it’s not that hard to imagine that the demand outstripped Apple’s supply.

This is unusual because the first thing that I’m thinking when I heard of Iphone is to go to an Apple store and now you are saying that I can’t find anything at all. Maybe the stocks are out and they will have to wait for another shipment of the said unit. I’m not surprise at all because those Iphones are surely hot.

Heh, well, it says a lot for their popularity, doesn’t it? The iPhones, not surprisingly, seem to have done quite well. Pretty frustrating when you can’t find them anywhere, though. How soon before the second generation iPhones are released? What new features are we talkin’? God, I’d love an iPhone..:(

I think this is quite funny. The phones have become immensely popular and to the point where they are being sold out in the stores and they are having trouble replacing them. Apple is getting good business but I never thought there would be something as too much good business.
