Of late, some information has been making its rounds in the grapevine. The information suggests that there is a great possibility that Apple may be working hard in the direction of attempting to seed developers with an early build of Mac OS X 10.6 at this year’s WWDC to be held very soon. The Mac OS X 10.6, it has been said through the web, will not include any major new significant features from 10.5; instead, Apple is focusing solely and mainly on other factors equally important - like “stability and security.”
It has also come to notice that the Mac OS X 10.6 may go gold master by December this year all in a valiant effort to begin their shipping in January ‘09 all in perfect timing for the Macworld Expo. Mac OS X 10.6 will be a major and important release for Apple, as it will wholly leave the PowerPC way and far behind - a fully 64-bit clean, Intel-only Mac OS X. This information is certain to make everyone wonder in the direction of universal applications. Especially, the time period till when they might remain alive and exist. With Apple leaving pre-Intel Macs behind before soon and all in good time, this could very well serve as a marker for the end of the Intel transition, as Apple (and presumably many third-party developers) will be emphasizing focus and holding the spotlight over the newer Mac architecture.
As was aptly asked ‘Of course, this leaves open a critical question — what will this new OS version be codenamed?’ The answer to that is everyone has their own assumptions. It remains to be seen, which ones come out and reflect reality.

Oh wow, and I was just thinking about upgrading to leopard. I still have tiger. I might as well just wait until the new one comes out and see about upgrading then. I do wonder what this one will be called though.
