ividA new 30-minute video from Apple has been making news of late. Starring who, you ask? The iPhone of course. Apple has made a new 30-minute feature starring the iPhone 3G. It doesn’t, as yet, have a title.

I, Phone, maybe?

IDG News Service’s Matt Hamblen loves it and so, by implication, does the New York Times, which is also running it.

“Actually, it’s not really a movie. It’s a long, drawn-out puff piece with Bob Borchers who’s not a professional actor, as many have thought, in the supporting role. He’s not, though, a thespian. Rather, he’s the senior director of the Apple iPhone product line.”

Wonder if he’s also a member of the actors’ union?

Anyway, “Analysts said the video is unusual in smart phone marketing,”

Hamblen raves, going on:

“It is also distinctive because, at 30 minutes, it is lengthy and intimate, with a narrator talking directly at the audience, with up-close demonstrations of how an application works.

Many other cell phone makers and cell phone carriers have elaborate marketing campaigns and offer users the ability to hold and try out phones in their stores before making a purchase, but the video shows how far Apple is willing to go, analysts said.”

But we already know how far Apple is willing to go. Going by the past, the present and envisioning the Apple future, one could say – any lengths. Interestingly the piece isn’t being run under ‘advertising’ or ‘marketing’. Instead, it’s presented under ‘technology’

Wow! I’m going to look for this video — have been reading about the new phone and trying to figure out if I can switch. I was hoping that more carriers would have this one, but doesn’t look like that’s the case. Apple does a good job of marketing — as well as design!

It would’ve been cool to have a link to the video…but that’s an interesting article. I can’t imagine how much apple can do with all the technology that is available. And they keep inventing more technology and they are the leaders in that market.

It’s a roughly 30 minute video giving you instructions of the new features of this iPhone. The video is available at their site ->

    http://www.apple.com/iphone/guidedtour/

You can watch it or download it, watch it from your iPod or PC. For PC, you’ll of course need Quicktime installed. Cheers! Happy viewing!

30 minutes for guided instruction on using their product?

I don’t think that it would help on selling Iphone because I would be very bored and will just try to skip. Usually when I bought a gadget I never read the instructions and try to figure it out while I’m using it. It makes it more exciting.

I guess that I’m just speaking for myself because everyone is different from the other.
